Spots and Scars

Daydreams offers a range of professional treatments to help improve spots, scars and enlarged pores, supporting clearer and more refined skin at every age.

Understanding Spots and Acne

Spots, congestion and enlarged pores can affect all skin types, ages and skin tones. Skin health is influenced by many factors including hormones, age, season, stress and genetics.

The skin naturally produces sebum, an oily substance made up of lipids secreted by the sebaceous glands. This is part of the skin’s protective barrier, but when sebum is overproduced it can lead to oily skin, congestion and breakouts.

Characteristics of oily or acne-prone skin may include:

  • Excess shine or greasy appearance

  • Enlarged pores

  • Blackheads and whiteheads (comedones)

  • Occasional or persistent breakouts

  • Blocked or congested pores

Acne develops when excess sebum combines with dead skin cells and bacteria, leading to inflammation within the follicle. As the condition progresses, lesions may become papules, pustules or more inflamed nodules, which can be painful and persistent.

Teenage acne is common and often resolves over time, while adult acne frequently appears around the lower face and jawline and is more inflammatory in nature. Hormonal fluctuations are a key contributing factor, and stress can also play a significant role.

Scarring and Skin Changes

Once acne has settled, it can leave behind scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture or post-inflammatory pigmentation.

These changes can affect skin confidence, but there are a range of effective treatments available to support skin renewal and improvement.

Treatment Options

At Daydreams Skin & Body Therapy, a combination approach is often recommended depending on skin type, concerns and severity.

Microdermabrasion

A controlled mechanical exfoliation treatment suitable for most skin types and tones. It helps to refine the skin’s surface, improve circulation and encourage renewal. Immediate results can often be seen in skin brightness and smoothness.

Venus Viva Skin Resurfacing

Venus Viva uses nano-fractional radio frequency to target deeper layers of the skin, helping to improve scarring, uneven texture and enlarged pores.

It works by stimulating collagen production and supporting skin remodelling with minimal downtime, usually limited to temporary redness.

Microneedling (bt-titan MN)

Microneedling works on the skin’s natural repair process by creating controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen and elastin production.

It is effective for:

  • Acne scarring

  • Rough texture

  • Enlarged pores

  • Fine lines

This treatment can also be combined with LED therapy for enhanced healing and skin renewal.

LED Light Therapy

LED therapy uses different wavelengths of light to support skin healing and balance.

  • Blue light helps target acne-causing bacteria

  • Red light supports healing, reduces inflammation and boosts collagen

LED is often used alongside other treatments to enhance results and calm the skin.

Acne Management Facials

Targeted facials using professional formulations can help to decongest the skin, support healing and improve clarity.

These treatments may include deep cleansing, exfoliation, extractions where appropriate, and active serums designed to support skin balance and repair.

Supporting Skin Health

Alongside professional treatments, a consistent skincare routine is important for maintaining results and preventing further breakouts.

A tailored plan can help to improve:

  • Skin clarity

  • Texture

  • Oil balance

  • Overall skin health

Spots, scarring and uneven texture are common skin concerns, but with the right combination of treatments and skincare, significant improvements can be achieved.

A personalised approach ensures that each treatment plan is tailored to the skin’s needs, helping to restore confidence and support long-term skin health.
