Skin Peeling Doesn’t Have to Be Scary
Skin peeling is designed to give a visible improvement in smoothness to the skin surface whilst retaining its integrity and your identity.
Skin peels are usually categorised by their penetration depth. Medik8 offers three levels of peel: superficial, medium, and deeper. Whilst more dramatic results can be achieved with deeper peels, recovery time is longer and they are not appropriate for all clients and skin types.
Autumn and spring months are often ideal for this treatment. The shedding and regulation of the outer skin is important for both skin health and cell renewal. Colour and texture vary between individuals, as do pigmentation irregularities, but everyone will see visible improvement.
These improvements can be maintained for longer when, post-peel, the use of retinols or alpha hydroxy acids is introduced into a skincare routine.
Within the Medik8 range of superficial and medium-depth peels, there are a variety of active agents, but all are designed to achieve a successful outcome. Skin concerns will not be resolved with a single treatment; a course is usually recommended, with each peel acting as a step in an ongoing skin journey.
Cell renewal is a response to controlled exfoliation. After treatment, the skin remains intact and its natural protective barrier is restored. The aim is always to achieve maximum benefit with minimum risk. You can expect the skin to look smoother, more supple, and more refined in texture.
Exfoliation is only one aspect of treatment. Hydration and protection are also enhanced as part of the process.
After treatment, some flaking may occur in the following days. This is not immediate, although temporary redness may appear for one to two hours post-treatment. The only discomfort is typically felt during neutralisation of the peel and is brief.
