Micropigmented Eyebrows: Colour, Healing and Longevity

Choosing the Correct Brow Pigment

The correct colour choice is essential for micropigmented brows to look balanced and natural on the face.

Over time, pigment technology has become more consistent and predictable. Modern cosmetic tattoo pigments are synthetically produced under controlled laboratory conditions, which ensures purity, consistency and reduced risk of contamination.

Unlike natural mineral or plant-derived pigments, which can vary in composition and require significant purification, professional pigments are designed for stability and safety.

A typical pigment formulation includes:

  • iron oxides for colour

  • water for hydration

  • glycerine for smooth implantation and stability

  • a small amount of isopropyl alcohol for hygiene and preservation

Every client is offered consultation and patch testing where appropriate.

Understanding Colour Tone

Each brown pigment contains a balance of yellow, red and green undertones, which creates either warm or cool results.

Skin tone also plays a key role in how pigment heals. The final result is influenced by both pigment selection and individual skin characteristics.

Immediately after treatment, the colour appears stronger and more defined. Over the following weeks, the skin naturally heals and the pigment softens as it settles into the tissue.

A review appointment is usually carried out to assess healed results and make any refinements if needed.

Healing and Longevity

After implantation, pigment passes through a healing cycle:

  • initial strong colour appearance

  • softening phase during healing

  • final settled result at approximately 6 weeks

Over time, pigment gradually fades due to:

  • UV exposure

  • chlorine (swimming)

  • natural skin renewal

Most micropigmentation results last approximately 12–24 months, with colour refresh treatments available to maintain definition.

If the shape remains suitable, refresh appointments are usually offered at a reduced cost.

Skin Type Considerations

Skin condition can influence pigment retention:

  • oily skin may soften pigment more quickly due to larger pores

  • very dry skin may initially retain pigment less evenly

Proper consultation helps ensure pigment selection and technique are adapted to each individual.

At Daydreams Skin & Body Therapy, KB Pro pigments are used for their stability, healing performance and colour accuracy.

Aftercare Support

To support healing and colour retention, a gentle cleansing routine is recommended along with a vegan aftercare product containing:

  • aloe vera

  • calendula

  • shea butter

  • skin-supporting minerals

This helps to protect the skin and support optimal healing conditions.
