All Made Up
Essentially I am a beauty therapist of the old school but over the years I have had many ideas to diversify or expand within the beauty industry. Although well being and skin care remain a priority so many aspects of the aesthetic industry excite me. Several years ago I planned to start a subsidiary of Daydreams Skin and Body Therapy called ‘All Made Up’. The intention was to not only to offer a bridal make up service but photo shoot opportunities for special occasions and glamour photo opportunities. I approached a client who had recently qualified as a make-up artist to form a partnership and another client keen to launch a photography business. We planned a photo shoot day to capture promotional material for a website. My daughter newly qualified with a masters degree in film and her then boyfriend an established ‘lighting gaffer’ agreed to help. We had two days shooting and acquired some great material. Great before and after photos. I invested in special lighting and the future looked rosy. OOPS… NO BRIDAL SHOTS. We neglected to actually put a tiara or veil on any of our models to identify them as a bride! Fabulous make -overs but job not complete. Obvious answer was to organize another day to reshoot. It never happened. Make -up artist getting some free lance work independently and film and lighting guys struggling to find and probably reluctant to give up more free time.
A missed opportunity but my enthusiasm and excitement for looking good at the big occasion has not gone away. Actually I am excited by looking good on any and every occasion!
Last autumn at a beauty show in New York I was fascinated by the celebrity make- up artist Eve Pearl. I attended her work shops. She as an individual is inspirational. Not only does she present a great make- over she delivers an inspiring treatment /experience. She is expressive, energetic and looks gorgeous. Eve does not appear heavily made up but all her features are enhanced. Her make- up brand promotes ‘makeup with skin care’ and when you wear Eve Pearl make up products there is the definate feeling your skin is benefitting rather than being compromised. I am captivated. Comfortable make -up glamour. Make up lessons cost £40 at Daydreams but this is redeemable against product .
Originally my career plan was to be a television make-up artist. The BBBC told me I would have to be 21 years old with 2 A levels from art, history of art, history or english and some experience in beauty culture. Only some of that happened. Post A levels I studied a 2 year full time course in beauty culture at The London College of Fashion where I discovered that my creative skills with make -up were not as great as my ability and pleasure in building a rapport with clients. I loved the client/therapist relationship and a life on location or on set would not have been to my liking. Make up in less dramatic surroundings has still always attracted me. My first teaching class in adult education was called ‘All Made Up’. I love make up to compliment skin care which is one reason I am so attracted to the Eve Pearl range. Facial contouring and the use of blusher are so much more attractive than a bland, flat camouflage. Eve uses make –up to bring out the feminine features of the face. Lips are brought forward on the face to appear fuller and eyebrows emphasized in a subtle, flattering way that gives the classically beautiful width across the temple.
The high definition foundation compact contain two shades of lightweight cream in 6 colour ranges from fair to deep. The two shades are non greasy and apply flawlessly to the skin. The pigments adapt to the skin tone and changes caused by body chemistry and weather conditions. The CosmeNutrients within the products provide the advantages of powerful anti oxidants, vitamins, minerals and peptides. Just as Daydreams always advocates. Eve Pearl’s Salmon Concealer is a treasure that should be in every make –up case. It’s peachy/pink colour eliminates those grey raccoon eyes. It also comes in a variety of shades to compliment the basic skin tone and high definition foundations. Why high definition? This make up can go before High Definition cameras yet is suited to the most sensitive of skin types.
Pearls of wisdom from Eve ..”If I teach you how to apply make-up and provide you with easy to use products that make you look good ,feel good and are good for you ..you will be a happy lifelong customer”. In the abscence of Eve allow me to take you on the journey. Sign up as a Daydreams member and you will receive news of oue make up events or request an individual make up lesson .
Eve cannot be with you but I offer you a make- up lesson for £40 which is redeemable against product.
